Elena Corbu – Artist Biography
Born in 1990 in Teleorman County, Romania, I have been dedicated to photography since 2012. My artistic journey is rooted in a deep exploration of authentic connections and the quest for independence within interpersonal relationships. As a self-taught photographer, I seek to translate abstract concepts into visual narratives that encourage viewers to engage in profound self-reflection.
My work examines the complexities of women’s relationships with their bodies and the emotional perceptions shaped by societal influences. I focus on the resilience and vulnerability inherent in the human experience, capturing intimate moments that reveal the richness of individual stories.
With a background in botany and agritourism, I approach my art from a unique perspective, intertwining personal insights with broader cultural dialogues. My journey has been profoundly shaped by my experience with endometriosis, which has inspired me to explore themes related to health, femininity, and the nuances of my own bodily experiences.
Currently, I divide my time between my native village and Bucharest, where I continue to investigate the female experience and the search for genuine artistic expression in a rapidly changing world. Through my photography, I aim to create a space for dialogue that encourages viewers to reflect on their own narratives and the shared human experience.
